And if that little pivot point is not pivoting free of drag, it’s going to throw the timing off and you might start missing sync on the cocking motor. this content During assembly, that pivot point gets a little dab of grease.

It is a very delicate and precise mechanism so use care around it.What this is going to cover is the type of error that clears with a push of the shutter I added a bit more grease, and spun the red gear some more. Through hot and cold and dusty conditions it survived until I got home.
I took the camera to an authorised Nikon repairer only for them to tell me the motor was stuffed Seems to work great now.

It's been great for what it is. Want to advertise on NikonRumors.com? When I outgrow the D3000, I was contemplating something along the lines of the D600. I then tried a 50mm AF lens and got an error about locking the aperture ring (it was already locked).
