Nikon D80 R03 Error Message

The camera went back to functioning normally. Was this answer helpful? There is an option on the menu to format a card, but you can't access the menu if you have the card installed. Moreover, the design of the contacts has been improved perhaps for a later model that retro fits into the D80, that I don't know, just a guess. http://photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00UuEN
When putting the lens back on, try jiggling the lens a little and see if that helps. ... The images on the card could still be viewed. The camera went back to functioning normally.

Then, I tried a 2 GB SD (not SDHC) card. Just below that is a battery indicator. The problem happened again. Still won't AF, still get R03 error.Am I the only one.
- This changed the problem. (I should mention here that I have ISO Auto turned on.) The ISO Auto indicator is in the upper left corner of the display.

I never sent the camera/lens in for repair as I lost the gear before I could. One possible problem is that the camera has a mechanical or technical problem, which MAY necessitate having it checked by a qualified Nikon technician. Was this answer helpful?
