Hmmmm, any help besides sending it in. Your camera might very well go another 5 years before the error shows up again. However that didn't fix it. Pull the battery for 30-40 minutes (after all the electricity disperses away), clean contacts and that is all you can do. weblink
This is happening to, I have been using non cpu lens then I thought I get a Af 28-105 mm Nikon. The "dot" is located directly LEFT of the "ISO" and the "err" is directly to the RIGHT of the "ISO." Anyway… long story short, I THOUGHT that I was dead in When asked they told me the buffer reference is for when it is working correctly and is a generic code when it is stuck. The constant pressure of the 4 brush contacts on the right side of the switch causes the gray plastic nub where the red arrow is pointing to break off. It's hard to tolerate this from a semi-pro SLR. I just checked it out again today and now it does take images, not sure why that changed. And bam it worked…for 5 minutes. I also tried with Manual focus, shutter did click but it didnt take any picture. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/2076714 I suspect either the contacts between the lens, the aperture leaver on the mount or the aperture blades on the lens (Sigma 70-200).

Maybe it's time. I set camera to normal mode (not B/W), I even put a fresh charged battery in, and I have a disk in that I know is formatted and works fine. I detached the lens and reattached it. I could not believe it when I got the error.
