They were more durable then CDs because they weren't easy to scratch like a CD. I've got a little less than 20,000 shoots on this camera and have really only had it for 18 months or so I believe.

So in marginal cases one card could fail while another one would provide sufficient electrical contact to work. Did you find a solution? The card may have the "lock" switch on, may need formatted or be corrupt.

Honestly, thats why I figured more cameras were using SD cards now instead of CF.

Put the back panel back in place, and insert a CF card and a battery. No matter what brand of "approved" CF cards I use (both Lexar and Sandisk 2GB CF cards), my D70 continues to have errors. Then the CHA error comes up. Followed them easily. You can try also to format this card but in this case you will loose all the photos on it And do you keep all the photos on card? Plus they are now far more expensive than some report buying new Nikon replacements a few years ago.
