Eventually I put it back into the laptop card reader and the camera had not wiped the information at all so I formatted via the laptop and thankfully, when I put Try another card. I have an older D70 with original battery and three high capacity CF cards all of which have been corrupted at various times. Do not lose any parts. Nikon quoted me $150 - $225 for the repair. SO, if the pins are slightly being displaced in the device then the eject mechanism is also putting a load on the pins. If that is the case r17 signifies that the buffer has space for 17 shots BUT is still awaiting your input - which has become impeded by the AF's indecision. That's why it seems to me like the contacts in the camera are malfunctioning.
Here are my questions: Let's say it's not the memory cards, what is the problem then? It got worse over the coming months and eventually became unusable. It may have been the shutter mechanism have dried up. Do you have any suggestions as to what maybe the cause of this problem?
