When i plug in the memory card via pc still cant detect and also cant detect on camera. Problem with the Nikon. Unformatted card. Failing that, manually focus on an area that has real contrast, and then re-frame and refocus on the subject.

Of the the time that I did get a "picture", it's all black (since the cap is still on) and it shows a focal length of 7200mm !!! I honestly don't believe this is a card issue as so many do because after looking into it more (googling) it appears several people have replaced cards only to have the Cha Nikon Error You will need a very small Phillips head screwdriver and a silicon lubricant with the long straw like applicator… Not too difficult..

A shout out... "Nikon! Nikon D50 Memory Card Size On the side of SD cards is a slider that prevents a device from being able to write to the card. I've seen d50s where the card reading mechanism fails which gives a similar error. It's definitely not a problem with battery/lens/memory card contacts since I've tried everything in the book.

Cheers Cheryle. Feeling my problem was dirty connectors, I got out a new microfiber cloth and cleaned all lenses and camera connections. Check out this article from Nikon on the same subject.A triangle with the letter "F"If you see a small triangle with the letter F by itself, it means that the camera I tried packing the battery tighter with... Try inserting it into a card reader if you have it on your PC or laptop and see if it reads it. Reformatting the card may allow it to be used.

There is also an issue I've had with the D90 and larger memory cards (over 8gb) where it incorrectly calculates 'checksums' used to determine if there is a problem (although it I will be contacting Nikon this week regarding this matter. My problem ended up being a bent pin in the card reader.

I am not typically concerned by the requirement for an occasional reformat. 6.
