Nikon D80 Error Message Cha
If anyone has other comments I would appreciated seeing them. Nikon would have charged lots and lots of dollars to do the same thing. Anybody seeing this error? Anyway, I don't think I have to explain this problem any further because I've been researching it for a while and everyone seems to have heard of it. weblink

I was using Toshiba memory card at the time by the way.That is my theory why/how the Err/Cha message occurrs.

thanks! Thanks for posting! As I struggled to get up from the ground, I waggled the camera as I pressed the shutter accidentally. An innocent gentle waggle would do the trick 8In a way, I believe it has something to do with the contact as I never twisted the lens when the error message
A rather simple solution, it turned out. The D90 manual says it means the lens aperture ring is not set to minimum aperture.If another long thread on the D90 error problems is starting here, at the very least How to fix it ? Some other time, the camera will display an Err and/or Cha message and lock down (just like some of you encounter).

Then I had to pull the card out and put it back in for it to pick up the card again. Please note that the default disk format used in Windows XP is FAT32 and if a card is formatted with this setting on an XP system the D1 will report CHA. It can ruin one shot, but you will notice it does not fire.
