Nikon Coolpix With Lens Error
i've tried all the suggestions but none of them are working :(it says lens error, restart camera. We tried them all and ended up taking a few screws out and then oiling around the lens with sewing machine or hair clipper oil. I was getting ready to ship it off to some repair center when i found this site. My camera doesn't have a rubber cover for the usb port, so, similar to the "tapping" method, I turned the camera so the lens was pointing down and smacked the bottom http://windowsazure4j.org/nikon-coolpix/nikon-coolpix-s4-lens-error.html

Thank you so much!! I removed the entire case, front & back, by unscrewing 7 phillips screws ( note different threads on one screw, & different length on the R side. But I wouldn't just give up on your camera yet. I have a Pentaz Optio E40 and the lens is every time stayed out.

we've had it looked at but the camera ppl said it will cost more to fix it than it would be to buy a new camera. After that my camera was able to turn on. If that doesn't work, remove the memory card and keep it removed for a few minutes.
