Just got home yesterday and i tried tip #7 today. I tried all your fixes, including opening the thing up (following your other Coolpix instructions and just guessing at what to do) but I couldn't actually get to the lens pins/guides Couldnt' get the lens to retract all the way and kept getting lens error and retry power on messages. This got the lens to retract, which was an improvement, but was still getting stuck while zooming. But hey, that's better than buying a whole new camera.
- If the lens or LCD screen has been damaged by a hard fall with the lens extended, the best thing it to buy replacement parts to repair the camera.
- This can sometimes cause an error on startup due to the additional power needed to open the lens barrel.
- Make sure it's dry before you reseat it, and reassemble the camera.
- There is obviously some potential for further damaging your camera with some of these fixes, especially with Fixes # 6 and 7.
- AND I HEARD A CLICK.
- While the power was still on and the lens was out, I simply (and gently) pushed down on the higher side.
- If using rechargeables, and they're more than a year old, consider purchasing new rechargeable batteries as they may not be providing sufficient power to startup the camera.

It would always shut back off. I shook or "tremored" my hand while the lens extended and it seemed to work. It was a camera about to go in the bin and is now resurected. I did not get an error but after zooming to any extent, I was not able to zoom out. Make sure that you have brand new batteries in the camera. check over here If this does not help, then we regretthe camera must be sent to our Nikon Service department as there are no user serviceable parts on Nikon Coolpix cameras.

What does setting the ISO range and shutter speed do? These materials love to cling to the camera by electrostatic build-up from the camera rubbing against the side of the case (especially those cases with soft fibrous intreriors). It gets stuck somehow. Another alternative to this is to try to suck the dirt out using a vacuum cleaner, though blowing is often more effective than sucking.
