I finally fixed it by holding the "OK" button and turning the camera on.

I tried to fix it using compressed air blown into the gaps between the lens barrels but that didn't seem to make any difference. Brilliant site! i have been able to leverage the lens out about 3mm but i can't pull it out any further. the motor is loud though, i then polished and oiled the zoom lens cases.
