Network Error With Fd During Backup Err=connection Reset By Peer

Some 6 month ago we switched to another Bacula Server. Is it active when no job is running? In my config I set the following line for dir, sd and fd:Heartbeat Interval = 5This should result in a heartbeat every 5 sec?I'm This was not the case. In addition, you may see heartbeat packets send from the >storage daemon to the client. this contact form

I really sincerely hope that a Windows Server does not do ethernet shutdowns or power management :-). But I would believe the heartbeat should be the same here as in 5.2.10 which you checked. This was not the case. Bacula-direxpects the TCP connection with the client to remain up throughout theentire job.

  2. I continue to haveproblems with Mac OSX clients power management shutting down thewireless PHY, but have not had time to investigate.
  3. In our Bacula configuration did the addition 'Heartbeat Interval = 60' solve time out issues.

This particular problem occurred first, when we migrated the "problem server" from a physical machine to a virtualized one (with VMware converter). Some other > guy from IT updated all switches. There is a second server on this host, which is being backuped too, without any problems, either in backup or general network performance. https://support.bacula4.com/customer/portal/articles/1587848-fatal-error-network-error-with-fd-during-backup The client >then initiates a connection back to that storage daemon.

In version 5.x the Dir - FDconnection sat idle during a backup. weblink If the >heartbeat setting is on then the storage daemon will send heartbeats >back to the client in order to keep the connection alive while it waits. I used a mix of E1000 or "flexible" in the vm config. I get the following errors: Fatal error: Network error with FD during Backup: ERR=Connection reset by peer Fatal error: No Job status returned from FD. Bacula daemons all set socket option SO_KEEPALIVE to keep the connections from timing out, but a switch in between was not properly honoring the TCP keepalive.

Kernel: 3.2.0-27 Bacula taken from the Ubuntu packages: 5.2.5-0ubuntu6.1 We don't use a tape changer, and the weekly full backup needs 2 tapes. Again, it would be good to know if the heartbeat should be active during waiting for a tape. I'l try to implement the keepalive's this week and we will upgrade our FD's on windows to the latest 7.x.I'l report back on how it goes, but it'l take some time.Thanks,BestRay------------------------------------------------------------------------------ his comment is here Could you try to confirm that (have a look at the code)?

But I can't see any heartbeat between my two servers. In my case it might be an update of our switch's firmware. Thatcan be disabled too if for example the NIC supports EEE but a switch inbetween (or the NIC driver in FreeBSD) does not, or if somewhere inbetween client and Dir the So I installed wireshark and tracked my network connections.
