The most common culprit for a lens error is some kind of obstruction that is interfering with the lens extension mechanism. I did not get an error but after zooming to any extent, I was not able to zoom out. Thank you for the great tips.. With new battery in, I grasped the lens between thumb and forefinger and twisted slightly clockwise as I turned the camera on. The lens cannot extend or retract fully, the error is detected and lens error is returned. ...
ty... the motor is loud though, i then polished and oiled the zoom lens cases. Holy shit! It really was an extremly gentle rotation of the lens which didn't feel as though it could possibly have done any damage to the camera.
my camera was like jamming when the lens tried to come out and saying lens error, so i tried forcing it out and ended up snapping the front of the lense It's certainly better but there is still something sticking, gentle taps while the lens is trying to open seems to help it and I can now take pictures again, maybe it If the problem is being caused by dirt particles lodged around the lens mechanism, blow compressed air around the gaps in the lens barrel.
