If the easy fixes didn't work, then the camera probably needs replacement of the entire lens assembly, which is no trivial task. Most of the time the 18.5mm f1,8 is on my V1. The fact that your getting a picture, although blurry, is hopeful. https://support.nikonusa.com/app/L11030/sn Hope this helps. I do not see any of those defects as unusual with the exception of only one product which we all know.

Please be advised of the details of this issue and its countermeasures. I had to buy a new point and shoot camera on my last trip because the lens died. One possible thing may be that the battery has worn down through non-use, and can no longer holding a sufficient charge. Many times, the camera will cost more to repair than it is worth, especially if it is more than a couple of years old. When I rotate the lens with the camera on it zooms properly and then it gets to a point and "shifts" which is when the message comes up. I took it to a local repair shop and the guy said he thought it was an issue with the camera.
