When I put it on the camera the display shows 'fEE', which is supposed to be "Lens aperture ring is not set to minimum aperture" (which, it is). The fEE error message Rotate the aperture ring to set to f22, or the highest aperture number - normally marked in orange. The DX 35mm lens works fine.I also have a d90 body- and the 50mm lens works fine on that, as-is. My lens worked on other cameras and my camera worked with other lenses. check over here

Your 24-70 won't have anything engaging with the aperture follower tab, so this may be a difference between the two lenses. Though my D7000 and 50mm Nikon lens had worked before, they stopped working together. Turns out there was a broken part in the camera lens mount area. How To Lock Aperture On Nikon Lens Just a thought and something to try. Rotate the lens to lock in place. Cleaning contacts on the D200 body and lenses made no difference.
