The most likely cause is dirty contacts between the lens and camera, so just clean then carefully and try again.

Most likely only a problem with the D1x, but could be an issue with others as well.BTW, it is an older model, but using RAW format and Capture NX-D set to Shutter Release Error message. Inspect the lens contacts for grease or dirt and wipe them clean with a lint free cloth. Is it something wrong with the camera ?
