I really don't want to go to Cannon but soooo tempted. That is why it appears only when you press the shutter button half way.
My problem was I took my Nikon D200 out of its case after not using it for several years. So use manual exposure or aperture priority exposure on the D70 body while you're firing that SB--80 up top. well in my case it ticks(or clicks). When you shoot there is always an "r" number there, normally higher, but you just don't notice it when the camera is responding quickly.
